Large seawater lagoons and lido systems now possible with the minimum of filtration when ACO, NoPhos and APF products are used to treat the water.   Perfotmance factor of public swimming pool systems reduced to less than 2 giving an 80% to 90% reduction in chlorine consumption.

Membrane filtration systems
Double the performance of your water filtration system and protect your membranes, simply by changing the  sand in your pressure sand filters to AFM® , an Active Filter Media.

Dryden Aqua are marine biologists specializing  in marine water filtration systems for the aquaculture industry and aquaria such as the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.  Water quality is absolutely critical,  if the water is not filtered properly then serious problems will be encountered with the aquatic animals. Dryden Aqua identified this problem 20 years ago, and over the last 10 years we have concluded the research into AFM® in co-operation with the European Commission under the Life-Environment initiative.

The use of AFM® to treat water as opposed to sand, makes a huge difference to water quality. AFM® was initially developed for the marine aquaculture industry but the benefits are now being realized by a much wider range of applications including pretreatment prior to membrane filtration for drinking water and elimination of toxic trichloramines in chlorinated systems.

Benefits
  • Life cycle cost savings will give a rapid return in capital which could be as short as a few months
  • AFM® provides the membranes and cartridge filters with much better protection than would be possible with sand
  • AFM® filter can cope with shock loads and high organics, it replaces activated carbon in some situations
  • AFM® filtration performance and back-wash is repeatable and predictable, ideal for automation
  • AFM® does not support bacterial growth therefore water channelling through the filter bed is eliminated
  • AFM® filters do not destabilise like sand and dump a high level of solids and colloids back into the product water
  • AFM® filter media stabilises very quickly after a back-wash, and is much easier to clean than sand using up to 80% less water
  • AFM® carries a negative Zeta potential  charge so it works synergistically with positive charged low zeta potential flocculants such as PAC, Ferric, polyelectrolytes and NoPhos. AFM® will tend to increase the zeta potential of the water and increase membrane permeability by dropping surface tension.
  • If good quality filters are used, it is unlikely that you will ever have to change the AFM® in your filters, even after 20 years.
  • AFM® does not contain free silica, less likely to damage the membranes

"We have had your AFM® in our raw seawater  filters for a few weeks now and have been monitoring the results. Wow what a difference. Backwash is complete and there is no channelling or clumping at all even with our very fine sediments."
